Port Hardy RCMP officers were called to the BC Ferries terminal for an impaired driver and ended up seizing a firearm from him.
On March 23 just after 8:30 p.m., someone reported a possibly impaired driver in the BC Ferries lineup, intending to head up the Central Coast.
When officers found the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation, evidence indicated he was impaired by alcohol so they arrested the 46-year-old driver.
They then searched his vehicle and found a handgun and ammunition. These will now be subject to forensic analysis.
The driver has been released with a court date of May 20.
