Mounties in a northern Vancouver Island community say a local elementary school has become a “hub” of underage drinking.

According to a recent Port Hardy RCMP press release, officers have noticed more and more underage drinking occurring at Eagle View Elementary School.

Mounties say the school has become a hub for underage drinking, which has been occurring in the presence of young adults, on weekends.

“We are concerned with the amount of vandalism, underage drinking, and the presence of young adults, who are not only actively drinking but suspected of supplying the alcohol on school grounds,” Const. Jamie Pearson of the Port Hardy RCMP said in a press release.

As a result, Mounties are urging parents to talk to their children, and discourage them from partaking in the weekend parties. They also say they will be patrolling the area and issuing tickets if needed.
