Port Alberni RCMP say discovered bones are from an animal

Port Alberni RCMP was investigating bones that were discovered by a civilian and have since determined the bones are from an animal.

A diver found the bones in the Somass River near the Paper Mill Dam on Aug. 25, and now divers from the RCMP underwater recovery team are investigating and recovering them.

RCMP thank the public for staying clear of the scene while the investigation was underway.
