A pop-up drive-in cinema is coming to Royal Beach in the Royal Bay neighbourhood - running from Friday, July 31st to Sunday, August 2.

Drive-in theatre, snacks, sunset and Disney – all the makings of a spectacular weekend.

This long weekend, you can find all of those things in one place as a pop-up drive-in movie theatre is coming to Royal Beach in the Royal Bay neighbourhood –running from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, Aug. 2.

The “Seaside Cinema” will be hosting three free screenings over the course of the long weekend: Moana on Friday, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl on Saturday and Mamma Mia! on Sunday.

On the event page, it states that gates will open at 8:30 p.m. each night, with the movies starting around 9:30 p.m. depending on light. There is a limit of 50 vehicles per showing.

No food and drinks will be sold at the event so snack-duty falls on the shoulders of the viewers themselves.

There are portable washrooms on site and organizers are recommending that movie-goers bring a flashlight in case they have to leave their vehicles in order to use the facilities.

Attendees can only partake in the event in a vehicle and patrons are being asked to maintain adequate physical distance if leaving the vehicle is required.

The event will be dependant on weather and if a cancellation is to be made, it will happen approximately 1.5 hours before showtime.

Organizers are referring to the pop-up theatre experience as a “preview into the endless community and entertainment possibilities” of the Royal Beach Seaside Village, which also hints at the idea of more upcoming events in the future.

Further details of the Seaside Cinema can be found here.
