An Insights West poll says a large majority British Columbians would be in favour of moving Family Day to the third Monday in February.

More than 70 per cent of B.C. residents say they would support the move to have Family Day align with the rest of the country.

13 per cent of poll respondents would be opposed with five per cent strongly being against the change.

Undecided residents registered 16 per cent of those polled.

Support for the change is high across all demographic groups, with 73 per cent of men, 80 per cent of residents aged 55 and over and 74 per cent of those who voted for the BC Liberals in this year’s provincial election.

Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan all observe Family Day on the third Monday of February.
