Police say senior pushed to ground in Qualicum Beach

Police are searching for one man who allegedly pushed a 68-year-old woman to the ground in Qualicum Beach on March 10.

According to Oceanside RCMP, the woman was out for a walk on Hoylake Avenue, between Alder and Arbutus streets, at 8:30 p.m. when she saw a man walking in the opposite direction.  The man was reportedly smoking marijuana.

The woman said hello the man and kept walking. Police said moments later, she was pushed to the ground by the man. After she hit the ground, she started screaming. The man allegedly placed his hand over her mouth.

Police said the man then got up and fled north down the lane.

The suspect is described by police as Caucasian with a darker complexion, 5’7,” between 35 and 45-years-old, with a heavy build. He has dark hair and a handlebar moustache. He was wearing jeans, a plaid shirt and dark grey thermal vest.

Oceanside RCMP are still investigating the alleged assault. Anyone who was in the lane or saw the suspect is asked to call Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
