An alleged road rage incident between a cyclist and a driver has Oak Bay issuing a reminder to the public to keep their cool.

Police said a vehicle towing a trailer cut off a cyclist near the intersection of Cadboro Bay Road and Cedar Hill Cross Road on July 16.

Police said after being cut off, the cyclist approached the driver’s side window to have a few words with the driver. The driver then allegedly reached out of his window and punched the cyclist in the face.

The assault is under investigation and Oak Bay police are now reminding everyone to share the road. If an incident does occur, try not to engage with the person and instead note the licence plate, and contact police instead.
