Police have recovered a backpack, shoes and socks belonging to the man who was found dead in a Saanich driveway Saturday morning.

The body of Andrew Michael Sidor, 30, was found in front of a house at Crease Avenue and Wascana Drive just before 9 a.m. on Aug. 17. Sidor’s death has been deemed suspicious due to the nature of his injuries.

Police have released still images from surveillance video showing Sidor walking through the Rock Bay area on Thursday, Aug. 15. According to police, Sidor was still wearing the same clothes seen in the footage when he died but his black backpack and white lace-up runners were missing.

On Monday, police asked the public for help in finding the items. On Tuesday, Saanich police confirmed they had been contacted by community members who had information and as a result, Sidor’s backpack, shoes and socks were found in the area where Sidor’s body was found.

The investigation into Sidor’s death is being led by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU). Saanich police said investigators are still reconstructing Sidor’s movements over the two days prior to his death. Anyone who has information about his movements is asked to call the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
