RCMP are investigating after a body was discovered in a Port Alberni neighbourhood.
The body was found laying on some grass out front out of the Port Alberni Friendship Center, located on Fourth Avenue, in the early morning hours on Saturday.
BC Coroners Service as well as RCMP Police Dog Services attended the scene.
Investigators could be seen using a drone and carrying an item, which was placed into an evidence bag, off the roof of the building.
A witness later told CHEK News RCMP arrived on scene at around 5 a.m.
CHEK News has reached out to Port Alberni RCMP for comment.
