The biggest golf tournament of the year on Vancouver Island is set to go this week.

The PGA Tour Champions schedule turns to the 2017 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship at Bear Mountain Resort.

Some of the players on the course for practice include six-time major winner and world golf hall of famer Nick Faldo.

Other players checking in at Bear Mountain include Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik.

There are 78 players taking part with a $1.8 million dollar purse on the line, with many getting in from a tournament in Japan this past weekend.

Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success, and Colin Montgomery will try to defend his playoff victory from last year.

Montgomery won the Japan Airlines Championship yesterday.

Scott McCarron, who was one stroke back in Japan, lost to Montgomery in the playoff last year at Bear Mountain but comes in as the top ranked player.
