Pet-A-Palooza draws hundreds of dogs to Bullen Park

It was a dog’s paradise in Esquimalt’s Bullen Park as Pet-A-Palooza brought together pups and their owners on Sunday.

There was everything from dog pool parties to superhero photoshoots and bulldog races.

Pet-A-Palooza organizer Jordan Illingworth says the event serves as a central place for everything dogs.

“I think it’s just a really great way for the community to come out. They can meet other dog owners, meet other service providers, and just see what’s available in their area,” said Illingworth.

This year marks the event’s 10th anniversary.

Since its inception, Pet-A-Palooza has expanded to Vancouver and Calgary and even across the border in cities like Los Angeles and Scottsdale.

Bronwen Bell is the owner of her own pet accessory business, Snuggit, and says the festival’s platform played a big role in the company’s growth.

“Pet-A-Palooza was like the first thing we ever really did, and it really just got us out there and got our name out there and got people seeing our products,” said Bell. “Going to a pet event like this propelled our business so much faster.”

This Island event serves as a staple for the pet community in greater Victoria, giving dogs a place to shine.
