A pedestrian has suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Victoria.

The incident took place on Friday morning, shortly after 10:00 a.m., in the area of Gorge Road East and Jutland Road. Victoria Police officers say they were called to the area after receiving a report that a man was struck by a vehicle.

Officers attended the scene alongside BC Emergency Health Services and paramedics transported the victim to the hospital.

Police add that the man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries from the collision.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to a statement from Victoria Police.

The intersection at Gorge Road East and Jutland Road is currently closed and authorities are advising drivers to find an alternate route.

The file is currently under investigation.
