Pedestrian struck by truck at Parksville gas station

Oceanside RCMP are investigating after a pedestrian was struck in Parksville Saturday morning.

It happened at the Coop Gas Station at the corner of Corfield road and the Island Highway.

B.C. Ambulance got the call shortly after eleven o’clock.

The victim is a Parksville man in his late seventies, who was walking across the property.

He was struck by a pickup truck.

Police say the driver jumped out of the truck and assisted the pedestrian immediately who was knocked unconscious.

B.C. Ambulance airlifted him to hospital from a nearby field.

Police say it was raining at the time and the driver has cooperated with the investigation.

The gas station has video surveillance of what happened.
