Peanuts characters go missing from Oak Bay park

WatchPolice in Oak Bay are on the hunt for three popular Peanuts characters. That's because Charlie Brown, Sally and Snoopy cutouts have gone missing from the Christmas display at Entrance Park. Hannah Lepine has more.

Entrance Park in Oak Bay was looking a little empty Tuesday.

That’s because Charlie Brown, Sally and Snoopy cutouts have gone missing from the Christmas display at the park, located on the corner of Foul Bay Road and Oak Bay Avenue.

Mark Fisher, the deputy chief of the Oak Bay Police Department, said the three Peanuts characters went missing sometime on Monday morning.

“We got a call from parks this morning about them, apparently they’ve been missing since yesterday early morning. We believe they were taken sometime late Sunday evening, early Monday morning,” he said.

The character cutouts were made by someone in the municipality and donated to be put up with the rest of Oak Bay’s many Christmas displays.

“I don’t think anyone wants to be that guy that took Charlie Brown,” adds Fisher.

Entrance Park has been the hangout spot for the peanuts crew for well over a decade, and hopefully for many more.

“I’m hoping someone’s maybe patching them up at home and returning them better than before, or we’ll find them sitting on the beach somewhere looking at the view and they’ll come back into our Christmas display,” says District of Oak Bay Mayor, Kevin Murdoch.

If you think you know where Charlie and his friends have run off to you are asked to call Oak Bay Police Department at 250-592-2424.

Alternatively, Oak Bay PD says the individual response can return them to their friends in the park, with no questions asked.
