A patient has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision at Highway 19A and the Little Qualicum River Bridge, north of Qualicum Beach.

According to the Dashwood Fire Department, two vehicles were involved in the T-bone crash, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. One person with severe injuries was airlifted to a larger hospital and two other people were brought to Nanaimo with minor injuries.

Fire crews were on scene for approximately an hour and the highway was closed to southbound traffic while clean up occurred at the scene.
