One person is in custody after police had to close a section of Fort Street for a person lighting items on the roof on fire, according to Victoria Police.
The 700-block of Fort Street will reopen shortly, police said in an update at 4:16 p.m.
The street was initially closed around 2:15 p.m. as police and firefighters responded.
A CHEK camera on scene showed numerous police and firefighters in the block.
Two officers were lifted up to a neighbouring roof using the fire department’s ladder truck.
Many onlookers were on hand to watch as police were responding.
The man on the roof was seen without a shirt, wearing a face covering on his lower face. He was waving multiple bandanas off the roof.
