A resident from Parksville is a few million dollars richer after winning the jackpot in a Lotto 6/49 draw.

Frances Lloyd, a woman from Parksville, says she was enjoying a low-key Sunday morning at home when she opened up her laptop to check her ticket.

The ticket that she purchased for the June 19, 2021 Lotto 6/49 draw matched all 6 numbers — only one of two tickets to do so across the country.

The total $6-million winnings were split with Lloyd and another ticket-purchaser living in Atlantic Canada, meaning Lloyd raked in a total of $3 million for herself.

“I have always dreamt of winning,” Lloyd said. “This is my big pot!”

According to a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) media release, Lloyd phoned her daughter immediately after she found out she had won.

BCLC says that her ticket was purchased at the Shoppers Drug Mart on East Island Highway in Parksville.

Following the win, Lloyd says she celebrated with dinner and champagne toasts with her family.

“I don’t quite believe it yet,” Lloyd said. “It’s a big thing to win.”

A new home and some monetary gifts for her family are just a few ways that Lloyd plans on spending the money.

So far in 2021, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $53 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
