The Johnson Street parkade is one of nine that will have free parking on Nov. 18 and 25.

Those heading downtown on Nov. 18 and 25 won’t have to pay for parking in parkades, after three organizations teamed up to cover the bill.

Downtown Victoria Business Association, Robbins Parking and the Bay Centre will be covering parking fees in nine parkades across the city.

Five City of Victoria parkades and four Robbins lots or parkades will have free parking as well as the Bay Centre parkade. DVBA will cover the costs at City of Victoria parkades, with the other two organizations covering their respective lots.

With Nov. 25 being the day after Black Friday, Jeff Bray, DVBA’s CEO says he hopes this encourages people to shop local deals.

“There is no better time to shop local than Black Friday and the holiday shopping season,” Bray said.

Mo Jess, Robbins Parking’s vice president says he hopes to see people coming to enjoy downtown.

“Robbins Parking is very proud to be part of this event,” Jess said. “We love to see people come and experience Victoria’s beautiful and vibrant downtown and enjoy all the wonderful things it has to offer.”

The following parkades will have free parking on the two days:

  • Broughton Street
  • Yates Street
  • Johnson Street
  • View Street
  • Centennial Square
  • The Bay Centre
  • Broughton Square
  • Sussex Place
  • Harbour Centre
