Pacific FC fire head coach Michael Silberbauer ahead of final game of the season

Pacific FC have fired their head coach the day before the team closes out its inaugural Canadian Premier League season.

A press release says Michael Silberbauer and the team agreed to part ways effective immediately.

Assistant coach James Merriman will serve as head coach when Pacific FC host Winnipeg’s Valour FC at Westhills Stadium in Langford on Saturday.

It will cap off a difficult season that sees the team head into the finale with an overall Fall and Spring Session record of 7 wins, 7 draws and 13 loses, and out of the playoffs.

“We felt we weren’t getting the results on the pitch that our fans deserve,” said Pacific FC CEO Rob Friend.

“As an ownership group we decided to make the coaching change now, rather than wait until the offseason.”

Silberbauer was hired in August of 2018 to serve as the team’s first head coach.

The former Denmark international team player had served as an assistant coach with Swiss sides FC Luzern and FC Biel-Bienne.
