There is a new connection coming in the spring between Vancouver Island’s west coast and the lower mainland.

Pacific Coastal Airlines announced Tuesday that daily flights between Tofino and Vancouver will begin in April of 2018.

The 45-minute flights will operate seven days a week with a 3:00 p.m. departure from Vancouver International Airport’s South Terminal to the Tofino/Long Beach airport.

A return trip will leave Tofino at 4:15 p.m.

“Our west coast communities are very excited to welcome Pacific Coastal Airlines to the Long Beach Airport,” Ucluelet Mayor Dianne St. Jacques said in a media release.

“The scheduled flights will be a wonderful asset to our busy and growing area.”

Pacific Coastal says a 19 passenger turboprop Beech 1900 aircraft will be used on the new route, designed to operate in all weather conditions.
