Outbreak declared at long-term care home in Port Alberni

Island Health declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens long-term care home in Port Alberni on Tuesday.

One resident at the facility has tested positive for the virus and that the test was confirmed via PCR testing, the health authority says.

Island Health says while essential visits will continue, social visits will be paused during the outbreak and there will also be no congregate dining or group activities. Staff movement will also be limited and additional housekeeping support is being brought in.

Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens is located at Russell Place.
