One woman charged after Nanaimo meat cleaver robbery

A Nanaimo woman has been charged with robbery and possession of stolen property after she allegedly produced a meat cleaver while being confronted by staff at the Quarterway Liquor Store Wednesday.

Police said at around 1:30 p.m., employees at the store on Bowen Road confronted the 31-year-old woman for allegedly stealing alcohol. According to police, the woman produced a meat cleaver then fled with a man.

Police said no one was injured during the robbery and officers found the woman a short distance away. Nanaimo RCMP are still looking for the man.

When the woman was arrested, police found stolen liquor, the meat cleaver and several pieces of stolen identification.

Angelina Beans is facing one count of robbery and four counts of possession of stolen property. She appeared in court on March 15 and will remain in custody until her next court appearance on March 20.
