According to the Victoria Police Department, one person was taken to hospital with unknown injuries after being assaulted with a weapon near the Broad and Yates street intersection around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police are investigating a stabbing that took place in downtown Victoria Saturday morning.

According to the Victoria Police Department, one person was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted with a weapon near the Broad and Yates street intersection around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses told CHEK News that one man was seen standing on the corner of the intersection holding his chest shortly before paramedics arrived.

Victoria Police say they investigating the matter and are actively seeking witnesses to the incident. No arrests had been made as of Monday, police said.

Evidence was seized from the scene including a knife.
