One person was sent to hospital following a stabbing in the 1200-block of Douglas Street in downtown Victoria Tuesday afternoon.

Victoria police say “multiple officers” responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. A CHEK News reporter captured photos of police taping off the area in front of the McDonald’s at the corner of Douglas and View streets.

Speaking with CHEK News around 2 p.m., a VicPD spokesperson said the victim had been transported to hospital, “where they are currently being treated.”

They say police “are currently working to identify and locate the suspect,” adding, “I don’t have further details at this time.”

The section of sidewalk was cordoned off with police tape for about an hour.

Paramedics from BC Emergency Health Services were also called to the scene.

“Two ambulances responded to the scene,” added Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites. “Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient to hospital.”
