RCMP say one person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Nanaimo Lakes Road on Wednesday.
According to police, the crash was reported at around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 on Nanaimo Lake Road, just east of the South Forks Road intersection. One man was killed in the crash and another man was injured. The second man was taken to a local hospital with undetermined injuries.
Police said based on preliminary reports, it appears the vehicle was going east when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control. The vehicle went off the roadway left, striking a stump then stopping.
The road was closed in both directions near the crash site for several hours while Nanaimo RCMP continued their investigation.
The BC Coroners Service has been notified.
