Police responded to a Saanich home over the weekend after receiving reports that a person was being held inside against their will.

On April 6 around 6:30 p.m., Saanich Police and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team were called to the 300 block of Ker Avenue.

In order to arrest the suspect, police used “flash diversion devices.”

Following the arrest, police executed a search warrant and discovered several firearms, a cache of ammunition and imitation firearms.

The suspect, Vincenzo Colantonio, has been charged with 10 offences including unlawful confinement or imprisonment, sexual assault, two counts of careless use or storage of a firearm, two counts of possessing a firearm without licence and/or registration, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief $5,000 or under, and breach of undertaking.

Saanich Police says no one sustained physical injuries in the incident and damage to the home was “minimal.”
