Rugby Canada has succeeded in its bid to host the North American Qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The two-day event will take place in Langford, at the Starlight Stadium — Aug. 19 and 20.
It will feature up to 18 teams from the North American region, with both men and women’s teams taking part.
The players say having the home turf advantage can make a big difference.
“It’s something we really value as a team,” said Jake Thiel, a player on the Canadian men’s team.
“I know I speak for both teams. It gives us the little boost that we need, especially trying to qualify for the Olympics.”
This is the first time Canada has hosted this tournament. Tickets will go on sale in mid-April on the official Rugby Canada website.
