Old-growth protester climbs Victoria Visitor Centre

An old-growth protester has climbed on top of the Victoria Visitor Centre and police have been called in to get her down from the building.

The protester, from the Save Old Growth group, climbed on top of the building and hung banners that say “Our clock is ticking…961 days left!” and “Save Old Growth”

CHEK News has reached out to the group to learn what the countdown is referring to.

A spokesperson for Destination Greater Victoria says the woman who climbed the building is refusing to come down, and police were called to help. The spokesperson says police have left because the situation was peaceful, but the woman is still on the building.
