The beloved Oak Bay Tea Party is returning to Willows Beach beginning Friday, May 31, for what is now its 62nd annual event.

The tea party includes carnival rides and games put on by Shooting Star Amusements, as well as food stands, live music and the titular Mayor’s Floating Teacup Race.

A parade is also scheduled to travel from Windsor Park to Willows Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The teacup race itself, which sees competitors sailing on giant fiberglass teacups, will kick off on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The first Oak Bay Tea Party was held in 1962, and was intended to be a “one time event,” according to the tea party’s website.
