Oak Bay firefighters used the Jaws of Life to rescue a deer that was stuck between the bars of a metal fence early Tuesday morning.
The fire department was called at around 5:25 a.m. for the report of a deer caught between the bars of the fence.
Quite the predicament this little one got itself into early this AM.
A job well done D Platoon, who rescued this little deer from the metal fence without damage to either!
It’s definitely not a cat, ? but it’s happy to be free as it ran away when free with a pause look back. pic.twitter.com/G0DjN6BYdn— OakBayFire (@OakBayFireDept) August 27, 2019
When firefighters arrived, they covered the deer’s head with a blanket to keep the animal calm. They then used the Jaws of Life rescue took to spread the metal bars apart.
According to the Oak Bay Fire Department, the deer was not injured and scampered away as soon as it was free. Victoria Animal Control was contacted but no follow up has been required.
