Saanich Police is asking residents near Hampton Park to be on the lookout and keep pets indoors, if possible, after numerous reports of cougar sightings Sunday.
Police say the encounters were along Tillicum Road between Burnside Road West and Regina Avenue.
In a release late Sunday night, Police say the big cat was not aggressive towards people, but it is believed the cougar was hunting for animals, including pets.
Residents in the area are warned by authorities to be aware of your surroundings when out walking and to keep pets inside, if possible.
