The location of the earthquake that struck west of Haines, Alaska
No tsunami is expected following a 5.0-magnitude earthquake that struck 82 kilometres west of Haines Alaska, near the B.C. border.
The earthquake struck at 9:32 p.m. PDT (4:32 a.m. UTC) with a depth of 0.6 km.
The Alaska Earthquake Center said the earthquake was felt in southeast Alaska and in Whitehorse.
U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center said there is no tsunami expected.
