The Victoria Fire Department is investigating after a trio of porta-potties went up in flames early Sunday morning, damaging a neighbouring condominium complex.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at the corner of Hillside Avenue and Cook Street just before 5 a.m. and, when arriving on scene, found three portable washrooms on fire just outside the new Sparrow condo development.

No one was injured as a result of the fire, according to Fire Chief Dan Atkinson in an interview with CHEK News. He says crews were able to extinguish the flames before they spread, though Sparrow’s exterior did sustain some minor damage.

According to developers, the six-storey complex features a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, as well as commercial space. Atkinson says one of the building’s sprinklers was activated due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
