The NHL, along with NBA, MLS and MLB, has announced a halt media access to team locker rooms in an attempt to keep the coronavirus from spreading.

All four major sports leagues in North America will restrict access to locker rooms to protect players from exposure to the novel coronavirus.

The update about media access to the NHL, NBA, MLB and Major League Soccer came out Monday afternoon.

“After consultation with infectious disease and public health experts, and given the issues that can be
associated with close contact in pre- and post-game settings, all team locker rooms and clubhouses will be
open only to players and essential employees of teams and team facilities until further notice,” a joint statement by the four leagues said.

“Media access will be maintained in designated locations outside of the locker room and clubhouse setting. These
changes will be effective beginning with tomorrow’s games and practices.”

All sports in Italy will be halted because of the virus outbreak, and travel will be banned nationwide through April 3rd.
