Workers killed on the job honoured today

There were solemn ceremonies across Canada today honouring those who lost their lives on the job.

In Victoria hundreds of people marched to the grounds of the legislature to mark today’s national day of mourning.

April 28th has been designated to remember those killed on the job and those who have died from work related illnesses.

Labour leaders say while the death rate at job sites across the country is falling, far too many Canadian workers still lose their lives at work.

Day of mourning events were also held in Courtenay, Campbell River and Nanaimo today
