Nanaimo store manager asks for help recovering stolen donation box

The manager of a Nanaimo grocery store is appealing for help identifying a man suspected of stealing a donation box on Thursday around noon.

Security camera video from the Superette Foods on Albert Street shows a man in a dark jacket and blue Vans t-shirt approach the check-out counter.

He then can be seen reaching beside the cash register while the cashier has their back turned,  he then appears to take the box.

He can be seen quickly hiding something underneath his jacket and then walking out of the store.

The store’s manager said the donations collected are meant to go to the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

She only noticed that the box was missing on Friday when she went to put some change into it, she then alerted the RCMP.
