Nanaimo RCMP searching for owner of sizable amount of cash found

RCMP are searching for the owner of a sizable amount of cash found in Nanaimo Friday afternoon.

A good samaritan found it on a sidewalk outside of a north end Nanaimo business at 2:15 p.m.

The person who lost it would know it was missing, said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

“[The amount is] about a mortgage payment.”

As per RCMP policy the money will be retained for 90 days, unless the lawful owner comes forward to claim it before the expiration period.

Anyone with information on who owns the found money is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
