Nanaimo RCMP says missing 22-year-old man from Benin has been located

UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP says a 22-year-old man, who was reported missing by his family Saturday has been located and is safe.

Original story: Nanaimo RCMP are looking for a 22-year-old man from Benin, a country in West Africa.

Abiola Abid Amadou was reported missing by his family on Aug. 25. According to RCMP, Amadou has not had contact with his family for more than a week, which is out of character for him. He recently stopped posting to social media and his cellphone is not activated.

His family is concerned for his wellbeing.

Amadou’s family has told police they have not seen Amadou for seven months and do not know where he is residing or who his circle of friends may be. Police have determined he was enrolled at Vancouver Island University but last attended in 2017. Investigators have not been able to determine where he was residing.

Amadou is described by police as 6’2″ (188 centimetres) with a slim build. Police said the picture of Amadou Anyone with information on Amadou’s hereabouts is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
