One woman was arrested for public mischief in Nanaimo after a call about shots fired turned out to be fake.
At around 11:40 a.m., police were called to a house in the 200 block of Nicol Street after a report of gunshots. Officers searched several residences in the area and confirmed it was a false incident, RCMP said.
Bayview Elementary School was placed in hold-and-secure mode as a precaution. It has since been lifted.
The woman is currently in police custody.
