According to Nanaimo RCMP, officers responded to four break-and-enters that occurred at various locations throughout the city, including a salon and government building between Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.

The most recent break-in took place at a provincial government building located on 2100 Labieux Rd. during the overnight hours on Oct. 19. RCMP say at least 7 electronic Thinkbooks were stolen from the building after a window on the ground-level was smashed, most likely with a rock.

Earlier that same day, thieves broke into the Supreme Self Storage located on Maki Road at around 7 a.m. and reportedly stole two skill saws, an Igloo cooler, a six-foot ladder and 20 boxes of nails from a trailer on site. RCMP say the suspects fled into a nearby swamp and that tools were found leading to where they were last seen. They also say a police dog attempted to locate the suspects but could not establish a track.

The third incident happened sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 19. RCMP says that is when three suspects broke into Mostar Mini Storage on Mostar Road and stole kayak paddles, small green propane bottles and a life jacket from at least four storage lockers. They also say based on surveillance footage, the suspects were “associated” with a black SUV or truck.

Lastly, between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, the Blush Medi Spa on Applecross Road was broken into after the main door was “shattered by a blunt object.” RCMP say an iPad and a large number of cosmetics were stolen from the business.

Nanaimo RCMP are urging anyone with information about the break-ins to contact them at 250-754-2345.
