Nanaimo RCMP have released these two surveillance photos of two alleged bike thieves.

Nanaimo RCMP have released photos of two people suspected of stealing a bicycle from Vancouver Island University.

The yellow Peugot mountain bike was stolen at around 1:50 a.m. on Nov. 29.

One of the surveillance photos taken at the time shows a Caucasian woman, approximately 30 years old, with shoulder length blonde hair. She is wearing tan coloured lace-up boots and a cream coloured button-up sweater. She was also carrying a tan coloured backpack.

Police said the suspect seen in the other picture is a Caucasian man, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with a goatee and a moustache. He was carrying a purple umbrella and appears to be wearing a red hat.

According to police, the man used bolt cutters to remove a lock on the bike. The man and woman then walked away with the bike as it had a flat tire, police said.

Anyone who can identify the man and woman is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2018-45189. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
