The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges against a Nanaimo RCMP officer in connection with a September 2021 crash.

On Sept. 3, 2021, Const. Elie Mohsen, a Nanaimo RCMP officer, was working a shift with the Ladysmith RCMP detachment.

According to a release from the B.C. Prosecution Service, Mohsen was involved in a crash between a police vehicle and a motorcycle.

Mohsen has been charged with one count of driving without reasonable consideration for others.

The release does not say on which street the crash occurred, or the injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.

It also does not say whether there were any passengers of either vehicle. CHEK News has reached out to the prosecution service to clarify these details.

He is expected to appear in court on Sept. 27 in Nanaimo Provincial Court.

In the release, the prosecution service says it will not comment further on the matter.
