Nanaimo RCMP say a large sum of money was found at a north end shopping mall on Dec. 31, and they are looking for the owner.
The mall’s cleaning crew, who turned the money into the police, say they believe the person who left the money behind was an elderly man.
This person is described as being between 75 and 85 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches, and was wearing a distinctive Irish hat, with a grey scarf wrapped around his neck.
RCMP say they don’t want to announce the exact sum of money, but that it was between $1,000 and $7,000.
