A 34-year-old man has been identified as the person who was found deceased on Harewood Mines Road in Nanaimo on Friday morning.
In a release, RCMP say someone on a walk around 7 a.m. found the deceased person on the north side of the Nanaimo Parkway overpass and called police.
The injuries to the person were consistent with being hit by a vehicle, police say.
The BC Coroners Service attended.
The person was found without ID, but police were later able to identify him, and notify his family who have been offered RCMP Victim Services.
“As a result of a news release published earlier on this date, several individuals have reached out with information that may relate to the investigation,” RCMP said in a news release. “Police were unable to contact them directly today but will in due course.”
Anyone in the area around 7 a.m. on Jan. 27 who saw an individual walking or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2023-3059.
Police did not release the victim’s name.
