Nanaimo RCMP are asking the public for help in finding 50-year-old John Martin Bates, who is wanted on warrants for assault and assault with a weapon.
The arrest warrants stem from two separate incidents. The first was in February of this year when Bates allegedly assaulted a female by hitting her in the face.
The second arrest warrant is from an incident in April when Bates was reported to have broken a bowl over the head of the same woman. The victim was not injured in this alleged attack.
Police said after each incident, Bates fled the area before officers arrived.
The investigation into both incidents by the Nanaimo RCMP resulted in charges being laid and warrants issued.
Bates is a Caucasian male, 5’6,” 150 pounds, and the picture provided is recent.
