A 53-year-old Nanaimo man is in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries after he was hit by a truck.
The incident happened on May 17 at 10:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Cedar Road, according to Nanaimo RCMP.
Police say the man was walking with another man southbound on Cedar Road when, for some unexplained reason, he decided to cross the road and was hit by a Ford F-350 pickup truck that was travelling northbound.
The driver, a 37-year-old from Cedar, remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. The pickup truck has been seized and will undergo a mechanical inspection as the investigation into the incident is still continuing.
The victim was transported to the Nanaimo hospital.
