A Nanaimo man has issued a plea for someone to return an envelope of lost cash after he lost it on March 3 or 4.

Nanaimo RCMP say the 71-year-old withdrew several thousand dollars from his bank and remembers placing the money in his jacket pocket.

He says he took several taxis that day and has contacted both taxi companies and both say the money has not been turned in.

“The victim realizes it’s a shot in the dark but he is hoping that a Good Samaritan may have found his money and will do the right thing and turn it in to the local RCMP detachment,” said Const. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP in a statement.

If anyone has information on the lost money, you are asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2022-7936.
