Nanaimo RCMP say they’ve arrested a man with a loaded crossbow Feb. 18.

Officers responded to a call after someone reported being threatened and robbed by a man wielding a pistol and crossbow, just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of Milton and Nicol street.

Shortly after arriving on scene, police found the man in a near by bush. Authorities located the crossbow and several knives, but currently have not located any firearm.

The man, Dustin Pacheco of Nanaimo, had a bail hearing that same night and will remain in police custody until his next court appearance, Feb. 22.

“The purchase of this cross bow was actually reported to police just days prior by staff at a Nanaimo retail store who were concerned about the purchase”, said Cst. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
