Nanaimo RCMP arrested one man on July 28, 2020 after a reported assault.

Nanaimo RCMP say a 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after a reported assault with a weapon.

Police say on Tuesday evening, they received a report of an assault with a weapon that had just occurred at a home.

According to police, it was reported that during the assault, a gun was brandished toward a victim.

It was also reported that the suspect had fled from the scene in his own vehicle.

Just after 8 p.m., officers found the suspect’s vehicle parked near his home in north Nanaimo. After police used a loudhailer (megaphone) to talk to the man, he walked out of his house and was arrested.

Police are now seeking judicial authorization to enter the man’s home.

The investigation is continuing and if anyone has information on the incident is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
