Nanaimo man allegedly steals running shoes destined for kids with disabilities

Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a suspect who stole a pair of runners from NUKO, a local organization that supports children with neurological differences, like autism, Down Syndrome or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Police asking for the public’s help to help identify a man who allegedly stole the shoes between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on May 15 from the business located at 60 Needham Street.

Police said they were given video surveillance footage that showed a man using a long stick to fish out the runners, trying to grab them.n After many attempts, the suspect was able to hook one pair of Nike high-tops and a single running shoe.

The man’s face could not be seen in the video, but he was wearing bright red running shoes.
